What does this mean for Lucy Locket's
Childcare?
The new Framework has a strong emphasis on
Working with parents - sharing knowledge about children's
development and interests, in order to provide a challenging
provision both here and at home
Working with other settings that a child attends (e.g.
preschools) - sharing knowledge about children's welfare,
interests and development
Using the child's interests as a starting point for planning
In September 2008The Early Years Foundation
Stage (EYFS) became statutory in all settings with
children from birth to the age of five. This includes
all childminders, pre-schools, nurseries, children's
centres, nursery and reception classes.
The EYFS is built on four Themes:
A Unique Child
Every child is a competent learner from birth
Positive Relationships
Children learn to be strong and independent, from
a base of loving and secure relationships
Enabling environments
The environment plays a key role in supporting and
extending children's learning and development
Learning and Development
Children learn and develop in different ways and at
different rates, with all areas of learning and
development interconnected
Areas of Learning:
Personal, Social and Emotional development
(PSED)
Communication, Language and Literacy (CLL)
Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
(PSRN) Knowledge and Understanding of the
World (KUW) Physical development (PD)
Creative development (CD)
