Yes and I continue to attend training that is relevant to delivering the EYFS
Can you describe a typical childminding day or week? Everyday is different but we keep to a flexible routine. We are usually out and about in the morning, whether it be to attend a session at a children's centre, or to go for a walk, or play in the park for example. How do you make sure you keep a good working relationship with parents? By sharing information on what their child has enjoyed during their day with me, both verbally and via a Daily Diary. By listening to and respecting their wishes. What arrangements do you have for meals and snacks? The food I provide is predominantly meat-free as I do not eat meat myself. I provide all meals and snacks for children over 1. How do you deal with unacceptable behaviour? I deal with unacceptable behaviour in a calm and fair manner that is appropriate to the age of the child. Which festivals and special occasions do you celebrate and how? Any that are relevant to the children that are currently attending.
What would you do in an emergency involving yourself or one of the children? Contact parents immediately and follow the appropriate procedures. Do you ever take the children out in the car, and if so, do you have suitable insurance cover, seat belts and car seats for this? Yes, and in accordance with RoSPA recommendations I replace my child carseats every 6 years and follow their information on using the correct child restraints. Do you have pets or a garden? No pets. Our garden is a good size and has 2 patio areas. What do you do about holidays – both ours and yours? I give parents plenty of notice, usually at least 3 months. I am always on holiday between Christmas and New Year. See Fees for information on charges.
How do you make sure the individual needs of each child are met? By working with parents and by observing, recording and planning activities.
